Teacher shot dead by gang in unclear circumstance in Kakamega

Shocking incident happened in Ewaliru village in Mumias East constituency in Kakamega after a teacher was shot dead in a house where he had run to seek refuge. The cause for murder of the teacher is still not known.

The teacher is said to have jumped from a Toyota car of registration number KCS 503L where a group of five unknown people were trailing him.

The teacher is said to have jumped from the car and ran to a nearby homestead located next to Egero – Sabatia Butere highway and locked himself in one of the rooms but the five people who were after him reached the homestead and ordered him to come out of the house but he refused.

The witnesses said the gang was armed with an AK 47 riffle which they used to shoot the teacher. The gang is said to have broken the door with a jembe which they had taken from the house kitchen after unsuccessfully tried to break it with kicks. They then shot the teacher on the spot.

“They tried to order him out of the house but he refused to open. They tried to kick the doors, they kicked severally unsuccessfully then one of them went to the kitchen and came out with a jembe and started hitting the door till the door opened and the guy tried to get out but they shot him on the spot,” said one witness who also is a resident in the homestead.

The area Police commander Mr David Ndirangu said they have started investigation into the matter.

The body of the teacher was taken to a morgue in Kakamega refferal hospital.
