CS Machogu under pressure to release KCSE 2023 results on Wednesday

The Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu is under pressure to release the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results.

Parents and the KCSE candidates are frustrated with the exam results delays after marking of the exams ended long time ago.

They want the results to be released as soon as possible. The KCSE exam marking started on 27th November and ended on 13th December 2023.

The marking of the 2023 KCSE exams happened in the following marking centres;
1) Starehe Girls Centre
2) Kiambu High School
3) Machakos Girls
4) Machakos TTC
5) Alliance Girls
6) Lang’ata High School
7) Thika High School
8) Limuru Girls
9) Nairobi School
10) Mangu High
11) State House Girls
12) Sunshine School
14) Moi Forces Academy Nairobi

Today Monday 25th December and tomorrow Tuesday 26th December 2023 are public holidays. The holidays will interfere plan to release the KCSE exam results early.

During the weekend the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) urged CS Machogu to give examiners more time to compile and give KCSE candidates the marks they deserve.

Addressing the press in Bungoma on Saturday, Aggrey Namisi, National Vice Chairperson KNUT said KCPE results were rushed hence having errors.

“Please CS Machogu, we are not in a hurry, give the markers time to analyze results well before you release, we don’t want to experience what happened during the KCPE examination release,” Namisi said.

“Let the examiners go through the questions, mark, prepare, and give credible results.”

Because of the glitches witnessed during transmission of the KCPE results, the KCSE results will not be available through Short Messaging Service (SMS).

The 2023 KCSE results will be available through the portal Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) unveiled by CS Machogu.

Parents and candidates will have to visit the website, key in the KCSE names and index number for them to get the results.

A total of 903,260 candidates sat this year’s KCSE exams. The exams started with the projects.

The projects ran from January to July 2023. These were then followed by KCSE oral, practical and theory papers.

These were done from 23rd October to 24th November 2023. All these happened in examination centres.

Centre Managers, Subject teachers, Directors of Education and Knec officials were in charge of the KCSE projects.

For the oral, practical and theory papers, Centre Managers, Supervisors, Invigilators, Quality Assurance Officers, Directors of Education and Knec officials were in charge.
