KPSEA stands for Kenya Primary School Education Assessment.
KPSEA is a final assessment in Primary Schools for Grade 6 learners before transitioning to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) at Grade 7.
KPSEA account for 70%. The School Based Assessments (SBA) in Grade 4 account for 15% and another in Grade 5 also account for 15%. School Based Assessments are projects and practicals done by learners in second term and written exams done in third term.
30% SBA + 70%KPSEA gives 100% which will be outlined in form of a KPSEA report issued in January.
The KPSEA candidates sit for five subject papers; Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Integrated Science and Creative Arts and Social Studies.
Integrated Science is one paper that combines Science and Technology, Agriculture and Nutrition.
Creative Arts and Social Studies is also one paper that combines Social Studies, Religious Studies (CRE/IRE/HRE), Creative Arts and PE.
The KPSEA assessment lacks creative writing i.e, English Composition and Kiswahili Insha which used to be done by KCPE candidates.
