The Council of Governors led by its Chairperson Anne Waiguru have said that they will look at the issue of ECDE teachers salaries and come up with a framework to address the current pay impasse.
Waiguru said Governors will work with Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) to come up with affordable and agreeable salary structure for the ECDE teachers.
After carrying out a salry review for ECDE Certificate and Diploma teachers, SRC said that the lowest cadre of ECDE teacher based in Nairobi (Cluster 1) should receive between Ksh 14,961 and Ksh 15,842, while those in Cluster 4 (other areas) to receive between Ksh 13,211 and Ksh 14,092.
SRC said upon a request from county governments, it issued a clarification on 13 January 2023 reiterating its earlier position on the remuneration and benefits of ECDE teachers.
However below are the salaries and allowances that County governments had proposed early 2022 to pay ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.
Some counties had already started to implement this salary structure however the Governors sought clarification from SRC which had a different opinion.

There is no accountability on the number of Ecde teachers in the counties.Most of them hide ghost workers here, hence siphon cash that nobody questions.Auditors should be aware that Ecde teachers have knowledge of the monkey game being done to them.Some counties push teachers to keep signing contract even after ten years of devolution.What a mess.Thanks to those that have implemented the scheme of service.
