The District Centres for Early Childhood Education (DICECE) has asked its trainee teachers with referrals in any subject to register by tomorrow April 14th 2022.
This after the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) said this is the last referral registration for the candidates and that there shall be no other window for such due to curriculum changes.
This means candidates who sat for their Knec Certificate or Diploma exams at the DICECE centres must register by tomorrow midnight or be locked out forever.
The candidates are advised to visit their DICECE centres for registration of the referral exams.
The exams will officially start on 4th July 2022 for both Certificate and Diploma candidates.
Last month Knec had given ECDE teacher trainees till 15th March to register for referral exams with their respective colleges.
Knec opened the referral window for all teacher trainees who got refers in any subject for any year.
The 2021 candidates are the last lot to sit for the ECDE Certificate and Diploma courses under 8.4.4 curriculum.
The examiner warned that there will be no other window to register for referrals once the deadline sets in as they will be done with the 8.4.4 system and allow the new curriculum to take root.
The coming of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) has killed the ECDE teacher training colleges including the famous DICECE.
Under the new curriculum candidates must have a mean grade of C (plain) as the minimum grade to study teaching course in early childhood.
However those with disabilities can join to study teaching if they scored a minimum KCSE grade C- (minus).
