TO: ALL TEACHERS

TERMINAL BENEFITS ON RESIGNATION OR DISMISSAL FROM SERVICE

In the 2025-2029 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the Commission and Teachers’ Unions, it was agreed that teachers who exit service through resignation or dismissal will be entitled to their terminal benefits.

Consequently, all teachers who exit service on account of dismissal or resignation from service are eligible for payment of terminal benefits.

Please note that the policy directive is applicable to teachers who exited service after 6th April, 2018.

To this end, teachers who exited service from 6 th April, 2018 onwards, through either dismissal or resignation, are required to contact the nearest TSC County or Sub-County Office for guidance on the required documentation to enable the Commission process their claims for purposes of payment of their terminal benefits by the National Treasury.

The affected teachers or their beneficiaries are required to submit the documents through their respective TSC Sub-County Directors.

The Sub-County Directors will verify the documents to ascertain accuracy and completeness before forwarding to the County Directors for onward submission to the Head Office.

The primary documents required to facilitate the processing of the terminal benefits are:-

a) In case of Teachers;-

  • Two Photostat copies of National Identity Card (both sides).
  • Two Photostat copies of Bank Plate (ATM) or bank card (for Saccos).
  • The attached payment of lump sum gratuity form in duplicate duly completed (names should appear as on ID).
  • The attached option to commute pension form in duplicate duly completed.
  • Two Photostat copies of KRA PIN Certificate.
  • Two Photostat copies of all promotion letters as applicable.
  • The earliest pay slip showing WCPS deductions in case of male teachers employed on or before 31 st December, 2020.
  • Teachers with UT service to attach NSSF statement.
  • Where names differ on the set of documents submitted, a sworn affidavit must be provided.
  • Where names on the Bank plate or Sacco Card differ with the ID, a letter from the Bank or Sacco must be provided.

    b) In case of a beneficiary;-

    • Original death certificate (to be returned).
    • Two copies of the death certificate.
    • The Area Chief to confirm the names of the next of kin, marital status of the deceased, list of the dependents and their ages and the contact address of the next of kin. (Chief’s letter should be original and written on a letter head).
    • The next of kin should liaise with the Sub-County Commissioner to have the deceased account closed.
    • Two copies of the KRA PIN certificate of the next of kin/guardian.
    • Declaration form duly completed (Obtained at TSC County offices, Huduma Centre or TSC website (www.tsc.go.ke) click on media forms widow/widower declaration or dependents declaration).
    • Current contact address and mobile number of the next of kin Certified copies of all Identity Cards of the Next of Kin, Children and Declarant (Certified by the area Chief)
      • Clear copy of Next of Kin ATM card (Not waiting card);
      • Certified Birth certificate copies of all children of 24 years and below.
      • School/CoIIege letters for all children who are in School.
