Primary and secondary schools will start their half term break on Wednesday this week. Ministry of Education revised the 2023 school term dates that also altered the mid term break.
Initially the midterm break was to start from 23rd March to 26th March 2023. However this changed when a fresh circular with new term dates was released.
In a circular dated 10th January by Principal Secretary, Belio Kipsang, the midterm break will now start from 16th March till 19th March 2023 when it will end.
However many schools will break earlier with most high schools and private primary schools starting the break on Wednesday.

In 2018 the government through the then Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed extended the mid term break to primary and pre-primary schools.
Amina noted that all children must be given time to rest while teachers also need time to re-energize.
Upon resuming primary and junior secondary schools will start their athletics from cluster level which will then cascade to zonal, sub county and county level.
The activities will then spill over to regionals and finally national where it will end.
KPSSA in a letter addressed to all Regional, County and Sub County secretaries listed the 2023 track and field events as follows;

The body also listed the requirements for learners participating in the events this year.

- Dully filled introductory form, signed and endorsed by the Head teacher. (Attached)
- An athlete’s full photography taken with the Head teacher and endorsed by the Head teacher at the back. ( No group Photo)
- Photocopy of birth Certificate Endorsed by the Head teacher.
