Joy as TSC extends contract for serving intern teachers for a year

Serving intern teachers can now sit back and relax as Teachers Service Commission (TSC) extends their contract for another year beginning January 4th.

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) had banned the current serving intern teachers from applying for the 6,674 advertised internship posts raising eyebrows on their fate.

However TSC has cleared the air by extending their current contract for another one year.

In the TSC issued roadmap for recruitment of intern teachers, the employer has said the current intern teachers will report on January 4th while the new intern teachers will report on January 11th in their various stations.

TSC in October recruitment of teachers on permanent terms (5,000 posts for high school teachers and 1,000 for primary school teachers) absorbed most of the intern teachers who will get posted late January 2021.

The intern teachers were also awarded ten marks in the highly competitive recruitment exercise.

TSC had made a propasal to recruit 12,000 interns before January 2021 but had advertised only 6,674 posts raising speculations on whether it will renew the contracts for the current interns.

The current intern teachers are not required to make another application online. However they will renew their accident insurance policy for another year.
