Games teachers in primary, junior and secondary schools have started to attend games clinics as term one games activities linger.
The teachers use the clinics to plan for sports activities in their clusters, zones, sub counties, counties or even regions.
The clinics also provide an avenue for the teachers to learn new skills or rules on the school games. Attendees are often issued with certificates after completing the training sessions.
A spot check by Teacher Arena show some teachers already attended clinics this week organized in their cluster zones, zones, sub county, county and some in their regions.
Games teachers have however been warned against use of overage learners and outsiders in school competitions.
The Ministry has put an age cap for those who will be participating. In primary schools only learners aged below twelve years are eligible to play.
In junior secondary, a student must be below fifteen years of age to take part in the athletics competitions.
In secondary schools the Ministry has banned adults from participating. Only students aged below eighteen years will participate.
Birth certificate is also mandatory. Teachers have been warned against forging birth certificates.
Last year primary and junior school games activities were merged under a new umbrella called ‘Kenya Primary and Junior School Sports Association’ (KPJSSA).
The KPJSSA Secretary General, Mamai Etiang, already listed this term activities for primary and junior school learners.
