KCPE examination results will be out in the next two weeks, Education CS George Magoha said.
Magoha announced this on Monday in Kisumu saying they are on the right track with only the marking of Kiswahili Insha and English Composition currently ongoing.
The CS said the invigilator in Kitui who sent away a pupil during the composition examination will be dealt with and will face the law.
He however said the pupil will be graded minus the composition exam.
Magoha told school heads and education officers to be extra careful because a few of them were ‘playing’ with the examination papers after taking them from the containers.
Magoha noted that it was quite unfortunate that such people end up confusing the candidates undertaking the examinations.
This is said was being done especially in the second paper.
“I want to give you a heads up that there are few of us playing around with the examination papers after taking them from the examination containers and it’s unfortunate,” he said.
He also expressed concerns over the circulation of fake examination papers by some group urging the invigilators to be extra careful.
“You are aware of the circulation of fake papers by some group and these people you know them and should be ignored,” the CS said.
The CS was presiding over the opening and distribution of examination materials at Kisumu Central Container.
He will then monitor the progress of the examination at various centres.
Below is CS Magoha’s full statement on progress of 2020 KCSE exams which started on 26th March and enters sixth day today.

PROGRESS OF THE 2020 KCSE NATIONAL EXAMINATION
The Ministry of Education and the Multi-Agency Examinations Monitoring Team are happy to announce that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Examination – now in its third day – has progressed well countrywide.
AII the 752,891 registered candidates have now sat six examination papers, including a number of candidates that are taking their examinations in hospitals.
However, we wish to inform the country that we unearthed a case of an early exposure of some papers during this examination.
Under this circumstances, unprofessional examination officials manage to expose the examinations a little earlier than the scheduled time once the papers leave safely from the examinations container.
The questions are then shared to the targeted candidates just before the examinations start.
As we promised, the long arm of our security system will always catch up with such unscrupulous people who think they can breach our watertight security measures.
Today, we have arrested an invigilator at a centre in Migori county who was sharing some of the materials that are exposed before the time scheduled.
The invigilator is now in the custody of police officers and will be arraigned in court to face criminal charges.
In the meantime, the police are stepping up their investigations to trace the chain of people that are connected to this ring.
They will be found wherever they may be in any part of the country or elsewhere and face the law.
I wish to assure the country that all examination materials are safe and that no candidate will be allowed to have any unfair advantage in the ongoing examinations.
We will ensure all candidates continue accessing the examination questions at the same time when the papers are scheduled to be taken.
We also ask for the support of all stakeholders and examination monitors who are spread out in all parts of the country to report any cases of malpractices to the Kenya National Examinations Council immediately they spot them.
