CEMASTEA starts to train JSS STEM teachers on coding and robotics

The Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA), in partnership with Coderina, has started training of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) teachers on coding and robotics.

The Centre has invited junior school teachers for three day training workshop aimed to equip the tutors with modern technological skills.

“The objectives of the workshop are to: Enhance teachers’ practical skills in coding and robotics; Promote hands-on, learner-centered approaches to STEM instruction; and Support sustained and effective utilization ofthe donated robotics kits in teaching and learning,” read an invitation letter by CEMASTEA CEO Jacinta Akatsa.

The training is on phases with Nairobi teachers who reported to CEMASTEA, Karen today Wednesday 21 st. January set to start training tomorrow.

This workshop forms part of a partner-funded initiative aimed at strengthening the integration of coding, robotics, and computational thinking in Junior Schools.

It is specifically designed for teachers from schools that benefited from the donation of robotics kits following the virtual training conducted in July 2024.

CEMASTEA will provide training materials, accommodation, and meals for the duration of the training workshop, and will also reimburse participants for their transport.

Schools are required to identify one teacher who can train coding, robotics and computational thinking or one who participated in the earlier virtual training and is directly involved in the implementation of coding and robotics at your school.
