Teachers will now have to use online portal to apply for leaves.
The changes according to Teachers Service Commission (TSC) starts 1st December 2021 and affects all teachers.
TSC says this move is part of it’s strategic plan 2019 to 2023 which is aimed to improve service delivery to all it’s employees.
Teachers like other employees of the Civil Service enjoy a number of leaves.
These include Annual, Maternity, Paternity, Compassionate and Sick leaves.
From July 2021 TSC made changes on some leaves after signing a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with teachers unions.
The CBA which runs from July 2021 to July 2025 extended maternity leave from 90 days to 120 days and paternity leave from 14 to 21 days.
However teachers who have trouble when applying for the leaves have been asked to consult services of the Commissions ICT field officers.
According to TSC manual application will not be accepted.
Other services the Commission has recently moved to online platform include teacher transfers, recruitment, and filling of casualty.
I commend Teachers Service Commission for going digital in most of its operations with teachers .Let’s welcome the move as it also improves quality of service.
But forcing teachers to go back to school is the cause of students unrest and burning of domitories. The pressure exerted on teachers makes them incite students ironicaly hence parents bares the costs of rebuilding the same
How will such stupid acts prevent tsc from sending teachers back to school?
Why should teachers punish the innocent parents for a policy they have no any involvement?
