The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has revealed that it has posted all teachers it recently employed on permanent and pensionable (pnp) terms through replacements.
The Commission says the teachers were issued with posting letters and were sent to report to their working station ahead of January reopening.
TSC had received sh 2.5 billion allocation from the Treasury in September, to employ a total of 5,000 teachers.
However the Commission did not publicly advertise the vacancies but silently left them for Members of Parliament (MPs) to fill in their constituencies.
It is not clear why TSC has taken this route which it had abandoned many years ago after outcries of massive corruption and discrimination by MPs who previously conducted teacher recruitment.
Now TSC has gone back to the old days and now the legislatures will be fully in charge of teacher replacements.
A source had revealed that these changes by the Commission were brought by the Kenya Kwanza regime.
Both primary and secondary schools have received the replacement teachers this month of December.
School heads are mandated to admit the teachers by submitting an online casualty to enable the teachers get their salaries early.
Some of the teachers were lucky to get permanent employment without first going through internship process.
Currently there are a total of 46,000 teachers employed by TSC on internship terms. The Commission plans to renew contract for the intern teachers it recruited in February this year.
TSC said the 46,000 intern teachers will serve for two year contract before being absorbed to pnp payroll.
Today TSC also re-advertised a total of 1,098 junior secondary school teaching jobs. The Commission has given till 15th December for interested candidates to apply. Below is the advert.

Tsc is bowing to corruption by employing recently graduated teachers just because they have paid for the employment (bribery)yet those who have experience for more than 5 years are forced to jss.
It’s painful.
Stop lying to kenyans tell them the truth mps are selling the vacancy at 400000 ksh yet lying to the government
This is not fair at all. How will mps know the unemployed teachers in his/her constituency? He will give the employment letter to his/her family members and friends then the rest we stay unemployed forever. In kenya corruption will never end. TSC advertise replacement posts and let all qualified teachers apply.
Sometimes I feel like committing suicide.
Can’t imagine the years I have taken in school. Kazi hakuna na ikipatika ni ya pesa…masikini tupate wapi msaada??? 😢 😭
…yaani no confirmation mpaka utoe pesa???
Ruto and your government God is watching you a day shall come
