TSC has finally reverted back to the old system where school administrators were appointed locally by TSC directors.
Through a circular dated February 18, directed to TSC regional directors the commission has changed guidelines for recruitment of school heads and their deputies.
The changes are aimed at ensuring efficiency in the service after numerous vacancies that are yet to be filled with huge pending retirements in the offing. The schools administrators which include primary school head teachers and their deputies plus the senior teachers and principals and their deputies for secondary schools will no longer have to wait for vetting from headquarters. TSC suspended thousands of interviews which were to be conducted before the coronavirus pandemic emerged that led them to be halted and postponed to a later date.
This means that TSC county and regional directtors will have final say on those to be posted to schools as administrators.
Many schools are facing huge shortage due to mass retirement and many unfilled vacancies.
