At least 1,000 primary school teachers are set to be issued with employment and posting letters this month.
TSC advertised recruitment vacancies in July 2021 for teachers wishing to work with the Commission to apply.
The Commission advertised 1,995 internship posts for both primary and secondary school teachers. 1,038 slots were for primary schools and 957posts for secondary schools.
TSC outlined the following requirements for one to be eligible for recruitment as intern teacher;
a) Be Kenyan citizen;
b) Must be a registered teacher with Teachers Service Commission;
c) Bea holder of a P1 Certificate for Primary Schools and a minimum of a Diploma in Education Certificate for Secondary Schools;
d) Hold original academic and professional certificates;
e) Should not have been in previous employment with the Commission, as a teacher on permanent terms;
f) Must not have served as teacher intern under TSC (teacher) Internship Programme;
g) Be ready to be posted to any public educational institution in Kenya;
h) Must have a Personal Accident Insurance to cover for personal risks during the internship period.
In addition to the above, successful applicants were required to produce the following;
a) A copy of the National Identity Card (ID) or Passport Certificate;
b) A copy of Teacher Registration Certificate/ print-out from TSC portal evidencing registration as a teacher;
c) A copy of NCPWD card (where applicable);
d) A valid Certificate of Good Conduct;
e) Two (2) coloured passport size photographs;
f) A copy of NHIF card;
g) A copy of KRA PIN.
TSC said the Intern teachers will work for a period of twelve months without extension.
Though the Commission said this is not a remunerative engagement, interns attached to primary schools and secondary schools will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Kshs. 15,000/= and Kshs. 20,000/= respectively.
TSC also extended internship period for 4,005 teachers who were already serving under internship terms.
TSC further advertised 1,000 additional slots for primary school teachers for employment on permanent and pensionable terms.

The 1,000 successful applicants will be issued with their letters of employment as well as posting letters to enable them report to their new stations.
TSC has also made payment for new recruits fast and efficient after moving the casuality to online platform.
By 1st October 2021 TSC said there will be no filling of hardcopy casualty forms but instead school administrators will make use of the online casualty for admitting and posting teachers.
The posted teachers will start at job grade B5 where they will enjoy a salary of sh 21,756 at minimum and sh. 27,195 at maximum.
The teachers will move to job grade C1 after a period of three years as outlined in the Career Progression Guidelines for teachers.
