The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has published eight Hardship areas that will officially be recognized by the Commission.
In the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between it and teachers unions TSC said it will endeavor to promote members serving in ASAL (Arid Semi Arid Lands) and hard to staff areas holding administrative positions progressively until they attain grades that are commensurate to their respective positions.

When is it supposed to start?
Does it mean that the entire taita taveta county is now hardship area?
I support
There more areas that need to be considered to be hardship areas. Some are even harder than the gazzetted ones.
The implementation on the newly published hardship regions can now be effective as from the next financial year of 2022/2022, when there will be budgetary allocation on the same, safe for the colleague teachers who have delligently, innocently served the Nation with all the hardship especially, in Suba and Mbita sub counties.
That region in hardship in all the spheres right from poor network connectivity, to impassable roads, some of which are completely cut off with/without rains,añd the most worst situation is on how much Teachers who work right at the borders of RUMA National Park are exposed to the game animals in case they stray off from their ecological niche, which has been the situation on the ground.Above all,tse tse fly infection has been the most serious infection within the game environment because the tse tse flies and game animals corresponds to one another, when this happens, it’s the humàn population that suffers within which teachers fall.
It is for this reason, the considerate TEACHERS’ employer,TSC should move with speed to consider putting this policy into practice to cushion teachers through this hardship.
