Thousands of teachers who failed to secure promotion vacancies last year will now be issued with regret letters.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has published the letters inline with its promotion regulations.
Teachers can use the regret letters as evidence of previous interview appearances.
Soft copies of the regret letters will be sent to TSC County and Sub County Directors for printing and issuing to teachers.
This comes at a time when TSC has advertised a total 5,690 promotion vacancies for school administrators requiring applications to be made by 18th November 2024.
TSC has advertised vacancies for principal, deputy principal, headteacher and deputy headteacher positions.

The Commission will advertise other thousands of promotion vacancies for classroom teachers once the KCSE exams are done. This will mostly touch teachers in grades C1 and C2.
Last year TSC advertised a total of 36,505 promotion slots for primary and post primary school teachers at a cost of sh 1 billion.
The Commission received close to two hundred thousands applications from teachers.
This year TSC has also been allocated similar funds for promoting teachers across all cadres.
Speaking during supervision of KCSE 2024 exams, TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia said the Commission has been allocated sh. 1 billion for promotion of teachers in December.
Of the 36,505 vacancies advertised in September last year, 17,914 were for primary school teachers.
The interviews for primary school teachers were done from 4th to 15th December 2023.
Secondary school teachers and Teacher Training College (TTC) tutors had their interviews running from 3rd to 16th January 2024.
However many teachers criticized last years promotion interviews claiming they were marred with corruption and lacked merit.
The application for promotion will be done online after which a list of shortlisted candidates will be released.
Interview dates will be issued for candidates who will also be required to appear with the following documents during the exercise.
1) Original National ID Card
2) Original Academic and Professional Certificates
3) Letter of appointment to the current Grade
4) Letter of appointment to the current post (where applicable)
5) Analysed individual subject results in KCPE/KCSE Examinations for the last three years, certified by TSC County Directors/Sub County Directors.
6) Performance Appraisal Reports for the last three years
7) Any other relevant testimonials supporting your performance
