The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has started to pay teachers August salaries on time before schools reopen on Monday next week.
Both primary and secondary schools will be reporting for third term on Monday, 25th August, 2025 which has nine weeks.
Some teachers will be travelling long distances to report to their station of work after a three week August holiday.
Early salaries means teachers will be able to pay for their transport fare among other bills like food and school fees for their children.
A number of banks including Family Bank have already paid teachers salaries by close of business, Tuesday 19th August 2025.
The Commission has heeded to an order by the Head of Public Service, Mr Felix Koskei, who want all government agencies including TSC to submit payrolls to the National Treasury by the 20th of every month.
In a circular dated 24th June 2025, Koskei says all Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and County Governments to process and finalize their monthly payrolls by the 15th of every month.
“To further enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and integrity of the Government payroll management and to safeguard the timely remittance of all statutory deductions including but not limited to Pay As You Earn (PAYE), National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Higher Education Loan Board (HELB), National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), pension contributions, and Social Health Authority (SHA), the Government has revised the payroll procession and closure deadline to the 18th day of every month, effective immediately,” read the circular.
He said adherence to this revised schedule will facilitate the timely submission of exchequer requisitions to the National Treasury by the 20th of every month and to ensure that all public officers statutory deductions are up to date and active.
TSC closed its payroll exactly on 15th August paving way for early processing and actual payment of salaries into teachers accounts.

When is tpay opening again please
Media, I feel for teachers, please give them some privacy on their pay even if they earn pea-nuts (everyone is aware). It might have not by their choice to go for such career while leaving out our better careers like Engineering but probably fate and family circumstances which they could not avoid. Even if, please protect the data for the purpose of their privacy, just like police service commission, judicial service commission, county governments and the rest. It’s so bad to publicize someone’s pay every month like this.
Why are the newly promoted Dhois still in senior teacher 1 scale since July 2025 to date
Why are the payslips not showing they are Dhois yet in Tpad they are recognized as Dhois
