The Teachers Service Commission has reorganized its management to improve service delivery. In the new changes to be effected immediately, there will be three deputy commission secretaries (DCS) to assist the chief executive officer.
“On teacher management, the DCS will be in charge of the divisions which will be headed by directors,” chief executive officer Nancy Macharia announced on Thursday.
The Staffing Division will be headed by the immediate former Nyeri TSC County Director Rita Wahome. Ms Wahome was the acting director of the division.
REGIONAL COORDINATORS
In a speech read on her behalf by Ms Wahome, Dr Macharia said Quality Assurance and Standards and Teacher Registration will be headed by Dr Reuben Nthamburi. Field Services will be headed by Ms Mary Rotich who has experience in teacher management.
“In the human resource management and development directorate we will have human resource management division, human resource development division and pensions section,” she added.
Decentralized units, in addition to the existing county and sub-county structure, will be headed by a regional coordinator. The units have been established in Nairobi, Rift Valley, Central, Eastern, Coast, Nyanza, Western and North Eastern.
“The regional coordinators will coordinate all the Commission’s programmes and activities in the eight regions. “The developments are necessary in order to improve service delivery to teachers who are our key stakeholders,” Dr Macharia said.
