The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will today midnight end the online application exercise for replacement of 8,707 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms (pnp).
TSC advertised 5,862 posts for primary schools, 21 posts for junior schools and 2,824 posts for secondary schools in the replacements.
The online application portal was activated from 31st December for fourteen days to allow qualified teachers to apply.
In the advert TSC listed three key requirements for those seeking for the slots. One is required to be a Kenyan citizen.
He or she should also hold at least a P1 certificate in the case of primary schools or a diploma in education in the case of junior and secondary schools. One must also be a registered teacher with TSC.
The application for the replacement vacancies is strictly done through the TSC online platform from 31st December 2024 to 13th January 2025.
The Commission said the vacancies arose after teachers exited the teaching service through natural attrition which include retirement, resignation and death.
TSC is seeking to conclude the teacher replacement application erxercise roday so it can start promotion interviews to fill 19,943 promotion vacancies it recently declared.
The interviews will start on Wednesday 15th January 2025 inline with the Commission roadmap for promotion of teachers.
TSC already invited teacher applicants to pick their invitation letters after shortlisting them for the interviews.
TSC has advertised 19,943 promotion vacancies for teachers from job group C1 to job group D4 after being allocated sh 1 billion by Treasury.
The Commission had on 17th December declared the slots through an advert and asked teachers to apply online.
TSC invited teachers from primary to post primary institutions to apply online for the promotion vacancies.
TSC gave qualified teachers till the midnight of 30th December, 2024 to place an application.
The Commission asked teachers who had earlier applied for promotion in the Advert 1 to 4 of 2024 which run from 12th to 18th November, 2024 to apply.
After shortlisting teachers will be required to carry their national Identity Card (ID), academic certificates and Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) ratings for the last three years.
Those in acting capacity will be required to produce letters for the acting positions.
Appointment letters and letters of appointment to the current grades will also be required.
Those with disabilities will have to produce their disability membership card as evidence of registration.
However TSC says successful candidates must produce the five Chapter 6 documents before they are awarded their positions and posted to schools where vacancies are available.

REPLACEMENT OF TEACHERS WHO EXITED SERVICE IN PUBLIC PRIMARY, JUNIOR AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS – DECEMBER, 2024
The Teachers Service Commission is declaring 8,707 vacancies to replace teachers who exited service through natural attrition i.e. 5,862 posts for primary schools, 21 posts for junior schools and 2,824 posts for secondary schools.
The teachers recruited will serve on Permanent and Pensionable terms of service. Eligibility To qualify for recruitment, a candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
i) Be a Kenyan citizen;
ii) Must be a holder of a P1 certificate in the case of primary schools OR a diploma in education in the case of junior and secondary schools;
iii) Must be a registered teacher with Teachers Service Commission.

Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Teachers Service Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke from Tuesday 31st December, 2024 and not later than 13th January 2025.
