UPGRADE PROGRAMME FOR P1 TEACHERS
The Commission is committed to ensuring that Junior School level of Education operates at optimum staffing level.
To this end, the Commission in liaison with other education stakeholders and with support from World Bank is planning an Upgrade Program for serving PI1 teachers who meet minimum entry requirements for either diploma or degree programme.
To ensure that the Commission gets the exact number of serving P1 teachers who qualify for the Upgrade program, there is need to correct the following data from the teachers themselves and compare it with the available data online.
a) Number of P1 teachers employed by the Commission, who got a Mean Grade of C+ at KCSE and a C+ in at least two subjects but never proceeded to acquire a diploma or a degree certificate; and
b) Number of P1 teachers employed by the Commission, who got a Mean Grade of “C” at KCSE and a C+ in at least two subjects.
This data is urgently required to inform decision making on the proposed Upgrade Programme.
The purpose for this memo is to request that you immediately facilitate the collection of this data and share it with the undersigned for further processing using the attached template in MS Excel format so as to reach the him by Friday, 29th August, 2025.

you should give the same criterion when recruiting Jss teachers since majority of P1 teachers are qualified to teach there and they are still unemployed since they have an upgrade certificate but the qualifications differ. Why do you want to promote P1 s with such qualifications to teach js and you’re not employing the unemployed ones with upgrade certificate. You’re not fair at all Thankyou

There are teachers in primary schools who attained c+and c grades in KCSE and have basic knowledge of some of the learning areas in CBE than those with the subject combinations required. For instant bec ecde?

Consider also unemployed p1 teachers with diploma in education with c plain kcse mean grade and and c+ in the two teaching subjects to teach jss .It is not fair at all to upgrade others and many are unemployed. Plz

No, no online application see your headteacher to fill an excel template which allows you to provide three subjects combinations with C+ and above in form 4 kcse certificate. Note that you must be a practicing p1 teacher employed by tsc

Tsc has made a very good move, a very noble thing to upgrade p1 teachers.
