A police officer has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 4-year-old girl at Komomange village in Kuria West, Migori County.
Kuria West Sub-county Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the officer identified as Harrison Joseph, who has been on the run since the incident occurred on July 24, 2020, was arrested on Saturday evening.
He said the incident occurred at around 6pm on July 24 and it was reported to Kehancha police station on the same day.
The police commander said the minor was treated at Kehancha Sub-county Hospital and was discharged.
The suspect is detained at Kehancha police station awaiting to be arraigned in court on Monday.
The arrest of the police officer comes amid rising concern over rampant cases of child abuse in Kuria region.
