CEMASTEA announces February training for junior school teachers

The Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) has announced training for junior secondary school teachers starting this month of February 2024.

However unlike the previous training which were done physically for junior secondary school intern teachers.

This training will be done virtually and will run from 19th February to 4th March 2024.

The training targets Junior School STEM teachers who have not attended any CEMASTEA training on pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) including those that were re-deployed from primary to JS.

These include the primary school teachers who were deployed to teach in junior school.

An allowance of sh. 8,200 will be paid to all teachers who will participate in the training.

Below is a circular sent to all CTCDC informing them of the upcoming online training.

To All CTCDC Chairpersons

RE: TRAINING ON ICT INTEGRATION IN TEACHING AND LEARNING FOR STEM TEACHERS RE-DEPLOYED FROM PRIMARY TO JUNIOUR SCHOOL NOT CAPTURED IN PREVIOUS CEMASTEA TRAINING

CEMASTEA appreciates the support and cooperation of the CTCDC during the implementation of the CEMASTEA activities in your county.  

We have planned to conduct ICT training for Junior School (JS) STEM teachers who have not attended any CEMASTEA training on pedagogical content knowledge (PCK); including those that were re-deployed from primary to JS.

The training will be conducted from 19th February to 4th March 2024 through CEMASTEA portal and on virtual platforms.

Synchronous sessions will run from 4.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m on Monday 19th to  Friday 23rd February 2024 while asynchronous sessions will be on Monday 26th February to Monday 4th March 2024.

The number of teachers to be trained per county has been allocated as in Annex I.

The purpose of this letter therefore is to ask the CTCDC to submit the list of teachers to be trained.  

Use the data capture template in Annex II and kindly send the information in MS-Excel format for ease of processing.  

Identify the teachers from those re-deployed from primary to JS teaching science and mathematics and have not been trained by CEMASTEA on PCK.

This information should reach CEMASTEA on or before 12th February 2024 using the email address: ceo@cemastea.ac.ke.
