Knec start to invite teachers for August KJSEA examiners training

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has started to invite teachers who applied for August training as KJSEA examiners.

The applicants have started to receive text messages inviting them for the training that costs sh. 10,500 per shortlisted applicant.

The training will happen during the August holiday where it will be conducted partially online and later on physically in a residential venue.

KNEC launched training of KJSEA examiners in April this year where the first batch was trained during the April holiday in preparation for the upcoming Grade 9 KJSEA in October this year.

The teachers had a short online orientation course before attending a face to face training in Knec listed training centres.

The April physical training were done in the following training centres based on the subjects/learning areas.

Kiswahili – Machakos Girls

English – Maryhill Girls

Business Studies (BST) – Murang’a TTC

Agriculture – Kilimambogo TTC

Mathematics – St. Francis Girls, Mang’u

Geography – Sunshine Secondary School

History – Sunshine Secondary School

Christian Religious Education (CRE) – Machakos TTC

Biology – St. George Secondary School

Chemistry – St. Georges Secondary School

Physics – St. George’s secondary school

KNEC has listed key requirements for teachers who want to participate in the training.

Some of the requirements is that one must be a practicing teacher in the relevant learning areas; must have a Diploma in Education and above with at least 3 year teaching experience.

The examiners will be used to mark the KJSEA 2025 which will be done by Grade 9 learners in October.

THE KENYA NATIONAL EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL

TRAINING OF KENYA JUNIOR SCHOOL EDUCATION ASSESSMENT (KJSEA) EXAMINERS

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will conduct training of examiners for Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) between July and August 2025.  

The training fee is Kenya Shillings Ten Thousand, Five Hundred (Kes.10,500) and will ONLY be paid by the shortlisted applicants who will be notified on how to make payments through a text message (SMS) and via the application portal.

The training will be conducted partially online and later on physically in a residential venue.

Shortlisted trainees will be directed on how to access the online training materials.

The venue for the residential training will be communicated to the qualified trainees later where the exercise will be strictly residential.

Qualified examiners will thereafter be engaged by KNEC to mark KJSEA using the criteria for recruitment of examiners based on the personnel needs for each paper. 

Interested and qualified teachers are therefore invited to apply in the subjects listed below:

2.0  CRITERIA FOR TRAINING AS AN EXAMINER

2.1 General requirements for trainee examiners

2.1.1 Must be a practicing teacher/tutor in the relevant learning areas in the level of examination or above

2.1.2 Must be registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or Public Service Commission 

2.1.3 Must have a Diploma in Education and above

2.1.4 Must have a minimum teaching experience of three (3) years

2.1.5 Must NOT be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action by the TSC/employer

2.1.6 Must be recommended by his/her head of institution 

2.1.7 Must be 50 years of age and below

2.1.8 Tutors from teachers’ training colleges and TVET institutions are encouraged to apply for Home Science, Art, Music, Computer Studies, Woodwork, Metalwork, Building and Construction papers.

3.0  APPLICATION PROCEDURE

3.1 Applicants are required to do the following:

3.1.1 Access the KNEC examiners’ portal using the link https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke

3.1.2 Those with CP2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords.  

3.1.3 Those who have forgotten their CP2 passwords should click on Reset Password button and enter their mobile number in the format (2547********) and submit to get new passwords for logging into the system.  

3.1.4 Those without CP2 accounts should click on ‘Create Account’ and

follow the instructions to acquire login credentials to access the system.  

3.1.5 Upon successful login, the applicants will then complete their personal profile and save. On the dashboard, click on ‘Apply for training’ and all the declared vacancies will be available for the applicants to choose.  

Only qualified teachers who have presented all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise on a first-come, first served basis.
