The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is making changes to some of its sub county as well as the county offices.
The Commission is currently transffering a number of its Sub-County Directors (SCDs) from their current stations of service to another.
The reshuffling of the SCD are coming at a time President Ruto’s government is faced with calls for accountability and integrity in his government.
Also complaints from teachers for some time now have been directed to a number of TSC county and sub-county officers who are said to be corrupt and lacking integrity during promotions and awarding of big schools.
However the sweeping changes by TSC are aimed to fill vacancies created after a number of them were promoted to Director positions.
The Commission is planning to promote some Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) and headteachers to be SCD’s in the ongoing changes.
In the latest transfers, Dr Emily Amudanyi has been transferred to Mutungu Sub-County in Kakamega County from Ainapkoi Sub-County, and she will be replaced with Rachael Lang’at who has swerved places with her.
Mathias Okumu who was Loyangalani SCD has been moved to TSC Nyanza Regional Director’s office, while Pokot North SCD Marion Ole Nyandelai now moves to Chemolingot in Baringo County.
Joseph Kiptisia on the other hand has been moved from Marigat to Pokot North to replace Nyandelai as a Chelelgo deployed to Marigat to replace Kiptisia.
In other changes Priscah Mokoro has been appointed as the new Kitutu Central SCD. This new appointment relieves Wasley Rotich of extra duties as he has been serving two sub-counties of Kisii South and Kitutu Central.
Pamela Ameka who has been in charge of Suba in Homa Bay County has been replaced by Caren Owaga. Ameka’s next station was not immediately clear.
Also affected with the changes is Chimako Kaingu who was in charge of Ruiru in Kiambu County now proceeds to Nyali as his new jurisdiction. He handed over to Lucy Wanjiru Karai, whose previous station was not known.
Kaingu will replace Robert Muriuki in Nyali while the former will head to Gatanga in Murang’a County.
Mohammed Shukri Maalim who was a CSO was promoted to Principal Teacher Management Officer (PTMO) and takes over in Mandera West Sub-County.
Patrick Bulinda takes over in Navakholo in Kakamega County as the new SCD, taking over from Robinson Kinyanjui.
TSC interviewed over 50 Sub-county Directors recently who had applied for the Director positions.
The successful individuals will now be promoted from job group P to R. Those considered for promotion include those serving as deputy directors at TSC headquarters and those in the field.
Those promoted from the field include Milton Oyugi who is the current Kericho County TSC Director, Erick Magak who is the current Vlhiga Deputy Director, and Carol Nandi who is currently serving as the Migori Deputy Director.
Also promoted is Everlyne Chemjor who is the current Tongaren SCD in Bungoma County, and Carol Nandi who is currently serving as the Migori SCD.
Others are Catherine Nairoshi who is the Kikuyu SCD in Kiambu County. Before her deployment to the field, Nairoshi was formerly serving as a public relations officer at the headquarters.
In February this year, the Commission advertised 13 positions of Deputy Director-Teacher Management which is at TSC Job Grade 5 which were created through adopting its new Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) for Secretariat staff.
Those appointed to the positions will have a 5 year renewable contract and they will enjoy a basic monthly salary of between sh192,782 to sh288,051; house allowance of sh50,000; commuter allowance of sh16,000; and 30 days annual leave per calendar year.
