Haina pesa! Primary headteachers refuse CSO job application

Primary school headteachers are refusing to apply for the position of the Curriculum Support Officer (CSO) that was advertised by Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Late last month TSC advertised positions for CSO (II) for regular and special schools. 286 posts went for CSO for regular schools while 295 went to SNE schools.

In addition the Commission also advertised 95 posts for Principal Teacher Management officers (PTMO).

However failure by primary school headteachers to apply for the positions of the CSO has made TSC to re-advertised the positions.

Details reveal that primary school teachers are deliberately avoiding the position saying the docket has no money.

According to the headteachers who are in job group C5 the CSO position does not come with lucrative funds hence not making it appealing.

According to the P1 headteachers they have vote heads including home grown (school feeding programme), Free Primary Education (FPE) and now the Junior Secondary School (JSS) funds (Free Day Secondary Education Funds – FDSE)

“The CSO does not have money, they keep moving from school to school asking for tip from the headteachers. I can’t leave a position where I have money to a position where I will start begging,” said one headteacher who spoke on anonymity.

Below is the advert showing the requirements for one to be Principal Teacher Management officers (PTMO) and Curriculum Support Officer (CSO).
