The 1.2 million Grade Six learners who sat the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will know their results next month.
The KPSEA candidates did five multiple choice exam papers just like the KCPE candidates. They did Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Integrated Science and Creative Arts and Social Studies.
Statement from the Presidential Working Party on Education Reform (PWPER) said Junior secondary schools which involves Grade 7, Grade 8 and Grade 9 will be domiciled in the existing primary schools.
The Grade 6 learners will junior secondary section at Grade 7 in January 2023.
The taskforce said Ministry of Education will provide the necessary guidelines on how this will be done.
It also said the Grade 6 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will not be used for placement in Junior Secondary School.
Instead, it will be used as an assessment to monitor learning progress and provide feedback to education sector players on areas that require intervention.
The team also said an extra classroom and laboratory will be built in every primary school for the junior secondary learners. The construction of laboratories will be given priority within the next one year.
However all is set for release of results for the 1.2 million Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination from today.
Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu assured measures were put in place to ensure there was no cheating in the exams.
“We will announce the KCPE exam results next week and there will not be any cases of cheating under the leadership of Machogu. KCPE grading is progressing well and the results will not be riddled with any irregularities,” Machogu who spoke from Kisii said.
The CS assured of an accountable process, free from any form of irregularities.
“We have put the necessary measures in place and I assure you there will be no cheating because this time, we have personal accountability at an individual level from the centre manager to the security personnel, supervisors and invigilators who will make sure there will be no cheating of any kind,” said Machogu.
KCPE marking uses personalized Optical Marker Readers (OMR) to facilitate machine reading, where the answer sheets are personalised to know which belongs to a specific candidate.
Only English Composition and Kiswahili Insha is marked manually.
