Successful TSC job applicants to start filling employment forms next week

Teachers who will be successful to secure employment in the ongoing TSC recruitment interviews will start filling employment forms on Thursday 28th July 2022.

The TSC selection panels at the sub counties will complete the selection process on 27th July.

The successful teachers will be informed through short messaging services (SMS) to attend for the event at TSC offices in their county by 27th July.

Currently the TSC employment panels at the sub counties are interviewing shortlisted applicants as well as verifying their documents to award them marks.

For each of the advertised positions, only the top five candidates were shortlisted, in a departure from the past when long merit lists would be developed although only a few stood a chance of getting the job.

The panels will generate merit lists which will be used for employing teachers in the subsequent replacements.

“The Merit List compiled and ratified during the selection process at the beginning of the Financial Year shall be used in subsequent recruitments within the financial year,” says TSC CEO Dr Nancy Macharia.

The TSC County Director shall convene a County Selection Panel to ratify Sub County Merit Lists and compile the County Merit List for onward submission to the TSC Headquarters.

However applicants with complaints will have an opportunity to present those issues to the TSC agents not later than seven days after the selection exercise.

“Any applicant who is dissatisfied with the exercise should submit to the TSC County Director a written complaint immediately and send an email to the TSC Headquarters through,  dirstaffing@tsc.go.ke not later than seven days after the selection exercise,” says Macharia.

The TSC County Director will be in charge to analyze and address all complaints raised after the selection process has been completed and thereafter submit a report to the Headquarters on the action taken.

Where an applicant is dissatisfied with the decision of the TSC County Director or where the complaint is made against the TSC County Director, the applicant shall appeal to the Appeals Committee on staffing functions at the TSC Headquarters.

The Appeals Committee shall investigate the allegations and take appropriate action within fourteen days.

This recruitment is marred with many complaints from unemployed teachers. The Commission seeks to employ a total of 14,460 teachers for both primary and post primary institutions.

The teachers complain that the recruitment is full of corruption with union officials echoing the same.

“There is a public outcry from members in the county concerning the ongoing TSC recruitment process that it is marred with unfair discrimination and biasness. As a union we will always stand for justice, integrity and service delivery and therefore we will always fight to ensure that there is sanity in the recruitment process. More qualified candidates were left out during shortlisting in favour of those with low scores,” said Kuppet Kilifi county in a letter.

Mogere Caleb, the Kilifi Kuppet Executive Secretary, has threatened court action over what he termed biased recruitment exercise.

Upset message for applicant

Some say they were initially shortlisted in their counties but were missing when TSC published the official lists per region on their websites.
