TSC to deploy second cohorts of P1 teachers to JSS from next week

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will start deploying second cohorts of practicing PTE teachers to junior secondary schools next week.

The document verification and posting will be done simultaneously by TSC Sub County Directors after getting lists of applicants from the Commission.

The Commission will also organize training of the deployed teachers on Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and Competency Based Assessment (CBA).

The first cohorts were already deployed. The teachers had there documents verified and were issued with deployment (posting) letters to junior secondary.

The P1 teachers were deployed to start teaching Grade 7 learners who are part of the junior secondary school section.

TSC had set 6th February as the deadline for application for deployment but many teachers were locked out and only a small number applied for deployment with some Sub Counties recording as low as twenty teachers listed for deployment.

The Commission then reopened application exercise for teachers who missed a chance during the first deployment to submit application.

The Commission is under pressure to deploy more teachers to junior secondary to address the serious teacher shortage currently experienced.

Some teachers who applied for deployment missed in the lists that were released by the Commission to various Sub Counties with some failing to receive SMS to invite them for verification of documents.

“The Commission has extended the period of application for deployment to Junior Secondary Schools. The portal has been re-opened. Primary school teachers with requisite qualifications are encouraged to apply. Use the following link https://tsconline.tsc.go.ke/tsc-teacher/login to access the portal.
