Knec to pay KCPE, KPSEA invigilators in February 2023

The Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) will pay teachers who manned this years examinations and assessments in February 2023.

Knec will pay Contacted Professionals which include teachers, drivers and security personnel. Teachers were contracted as Centre Managers, Supervisors and Invigilators.

The Council will pay teachers who administered the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) done in November.

Already the results for KCPE candidates were released and the top candidate scored 431 marks.

However the results for Grade 6 KPSEA candidates will be released on January 16, 2023.

Speaking at Mtihani House on Wednesday, December 21, during the release of KCPE results KNEC CEO David Njeng’ere said the pupils will receive the results on their school portal.

“The learners will get individual reports and all these are going to be uploaded on the school portal on January 16, 2023,” Njeng’ere stated.

He clarified that the results would not be used to place candidates in junior secondary schools but to monitor learner progress.

The KNEC Chief added that the examination body would release three reports on KPSEA: individual, school-specific and national level.

“The national report will provide feedback to educational stakeholders on areas that require intervention. It will indicate the proportion of learners at each performance level per subject where we need to do interventions. Each school will receive specific reports that will delineate the areas that learners had challenges so that they can continue in the journey of improvement,” he explained.

Both KCPE and KPSEA supervisors and invigilators will be paid same rate despite KPSEA exams lacking essay writings i.e Insha and Composition.

However for teachers who marked the KCSE will be paid after the exams have been marked and results released for the public.

KCSE examiners will report on January 2nd for marking of the exams. The 2022 KCSE exams will be ending today with Physics practicals.

Below are the payment rates for KPSEA, KCPE and KCSE contracted professionals.
