Knec says it wont extend registration period for 2021 Teacher Education Examinations

The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) has affirmed that the scheduled period for registration of candidates for 2021 Teacher Education Examinations will not be extended.

Knec had on 13th January gave greenlight for colleges to register their 2021 candidates ready for the exams.

The examiner had scheduled registration period for all teacher examinations to start on 1st March and end on 30th April.

The registration is currently ongoing and is strictly online.

The Knec exams candidates can register for include Diploma in Special  Needs Education (SNE), Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE), Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE), Primary Teacher Education (PTE) and Teacher Certificate In Adult Education (TCAE).

However Knec said there will be no registration for candidates taking the Proficiency in Early Childhood Development Education.

The 2021 Teacher Education Examinations is final for PTE and ECDE teacher candidates.

The Ministry of Education has launched a Diploma in Primary Teacher Examination (DPTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) this year to replace the P1 course and the current ECDE certificate and diploma courses.

Ministry had announced registration for DPTE and DECTE and ordered the duly filled registration forms to be submitted to Sub County Directors of Education Offices from Tuesday 23rd February to 7th March, 2021 by the applicants in person.

The intake for DPTE and DECTE is scheduled for May 2021.

1.0      The Kenya National Examinations Council will be administering the following Teacher Education examinations in 2021:

1.1       Diploma in Special  Needs Education – SNE

1.2       Diploma in Teacher Education – DTE

1.3      Early Childhood Development and Education – ECDE

1.4       Primary Teacher Education – PTE

1.5      Teacher Certificate In Adult Education – TCAE

2.0     Following the release of the  revised term dates by the Ministry of Education, KNEC wishes to inform all the Heads of Teacher Training Institutions that the key dates for various Teacher Education   examination processes have been rescheduled as follows:

5.0      The current Certificate and Diploma in ECDE course will be offered for the last time year 2021 as the curriculum for ECDE is expected to change in the year 2022.

6.0      The Heads of Teacher Training Institutions and Sub County Directors of Education are requested  to  bring this information to the attention of the Trainees and candidates who have been referred in the previous Examinations.
