Knec gives order to Principals that affects KCSE candidates

KNEC/CONF/TD/SE/KCSE/COMP/PROJ/2021/001

7th October 2021

TO:

(i)    All Principals of secondary schools offering KCSE Computer Studies (451) in 2021

(ii)    All Subject Teachers supervising and assessing Computer Studies Project (451/3) for the KCSE 2021

SUBJECT: REVIEW OF THE INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATE’S ASSESSMENT SHEET FOR THE KCSE COMPUTER STUDIES PROJECT (451/3)

1.0    The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) uploaded the KCSE Computer Studies Project paper (451/3) and all related documents for use in assessing  and recording the candidate’s project work.

2.0    However, KNEC has established that the Individual Candidate’s Assessment Sheet and the scoring guide are not in harmony in terms of the scores awarded in each section.

In addition, the assessment sheet does not include all the areas to be assessed as indicated in the scoring guide.

3.0    KNEC has subsequently revised the assessment sheet to include all the areas to be assessed in order to guide the subject teachers appropriately.

4.0     The subject teachers are therefore advised to download the revised assessment sheet and use it to assess the candidates’ work for Milestone 1 and upload the scores by 15th October 2021, when the portal for keying the scores will be closed.

5.0     Principals of the schools offering KCSE Computer Studies are requested to facilitate the teachers in downloading the assessment sheet and in uploading the scores to the KNEC portal.
