Knec extends score uploading exercise for CBC learners by a week

The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) has extended the period for capturing learners assessment scores on its online portal.

Initially Knec had given schools till 26th October to upload the learners scores on its platform.

However by close of business yesterday majority of schools had not yet completed submitting their scores.

Also a few days ago the platform had issues that prevented scores from being uploaded. Teachers had raised the complain and the anomaly has so far been corrected.

These issues prompted the Council to extend the period to allow the remaining schools to complete uploading their scores.

The Grade 3, 4, 5 and 7 learners completed their national assessment by theory exams.

The learners already did their projects and practicals in second term from 6th June to 10th August when it ended.

Knec had given public and private schools till 11th August 2023 to submit the practical and project work by uploading on its platform the scores for Grade 3, 4, 5 and 7 learners.

Knec had issued circulars to guide assessment of the learners and had provided assessment materials where schools were required to download and administer.

On projects and practicals the Grade 3 learners did Integrated Learning Assessment (ILA). This assessment integrated all learning areas in Grade 3.

Grade 4 and 5 did projects and practicals for seven subjects. These were; Agriculture, Art and Craft, Music, Science and Technology, Social Studies, Home Science and Physical and Health Education.

Grade 7 learners did practicals and projects for nine subjects. These were; Performing Arts, Visual Arts, English, Home Science, Integrated Science, Health Education, Physical Education and Sports, Islamic Religious Education and Hindu Religious Education.

The Grade 4 and 5 learners together with Grade 3 and 7 then had their Knec written exams this term which started 2nd October.

The written tests involved Mathematics and English activities for Grade 3 learners.

For Grade 4 and 5 learners the tests covered Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Kenya Sign Language, Science and Technology, Physical Health Education, Agriculture, Home Science, Social Studies, Art and Craft and Religious Education (CRE, IRE, HRE).

Grade 7 learners were assessed on all compulsory and optional subjects. Knec listed fifteen subjects that were administered in written form.

Grade 6 learners were not assessed because they are preparing for their final assessment, Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) which will be done simultaneously with KCPE from 30th October to 1st November.
