The Kenya National Examinations (Knec) has officially changed the dates when the Learning Continuity in Basic Education (LCBE) assessments will start and end.
Through a circular sent to head teachers, Knec CEO, Mercy Karogo directed for immediate adjustments due to the coming Mashujaa day celebrations.
The assessments had been scheduled to start on Monday 19th October but Knec has released new starting date.
The circular to school heads read as below
To: All Head teachers
RE: CONDUCT OF LEARNING ASSESSMENTS UNDER THE KENYA GPE COVID -19 LEARNING CONTINUITY IN BASIC EDUCATION PROJECT
Reference is made to my earlier circular Ref: KNEC/GEN/R&QA/NAC/GPE–COVID-19/54/2020/11 dated 8th October 2020 on the conduct of learning Assessments under the Kenya GPE COVID Learning Continuity in Basic Education Project.
As indicated in the earlier communication, the administration of the assessments will be greatly informed by the Monitoring Learner Progress (MLP) assessment administered at Grade 3 in 2019.
The assessments will be administered at school level as per the guidelines and assessment schedules provided by KNEC, and following regulations upon which administration of assessments/ tests is anchored.
Teachers will score and upload the scores onto the KNEC portal using the guidelines provided by KNEC. The guidelines are contained in the administrative documents which will be uploaded onto the assessment portal alongside the assessment tools.
The purpose of this letter therefore is to inform you that due to the celebration of Mashujaa day on 20th October 2020 the date for administration of the Learning Assessment Tools has changed.
The Class 8 and Grade 4 assessments will now be administered from Wednesday, 21 October 2020 to Monday, 26 October, 2020.
Assessments for other dasses will be conducted upon reopening of specific classes.
This is therefore to inform you of the change of administration of the assessm ents and request that vour school continues in makinq the appropriate preparations for the Assessments.
