Teachers given till 18th October to apply for exam invigilation, supervision

Teachers have till 18th October 2022, to register with the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) if they wish to work as Invigilators or Supervisors in the upcoming national exams.

According to a circular released by Teachers Service Commission (TSC), TSC Sub County Directors must nominate teachers who will man the exams this year.

These include Invigilators, Supervisors and Centre Managers who will help in administration of 2022 KCPE, KPSEA, KCSE and DECTE exams and assessments.

“You are required to identify, nominate and vet Centre Managers, Supervisors, and Invigilators who will be engaged in the exercise and thereafter deploy them into the CP2 system by 18th October 2022, through the following link/URL: https://cp2.knec.ac.ke,” reads part of the circular dated 20th September.

Last year TSC identified and vetted a total of 242,406 teachers who were used to administer the national examinations while the Interior ministry deployed more than 45,000 security officers for the exercise.

A total of 70,486 teachers who were vetted by the Commission administered last years KCSE examination.

A total of 831,015 candidates registered for the KCSE examination which were administered in 10,413 centres.

The examination papers and other materials were served from 483 distribution centres.

The council registered 1,225,507 KCPE candidates in 28,316 examination centres which were served from 491 distribution centres.

Knec merged centres that had less than 30 candidates to cut down on the cost of logistics. This affected 151 centres whose candidates were hosted elsewhere.

According to Knec only TSC teachers will be allowed to Supervise and Invigilate this years national exams and assessments.

Those to be nominated as Centre Mangers, Supervisors and Invigilators must also not have previous disciplinary cases with their employer.

The teachers must also not be in any form of leave from their employer Teachers Service Commission.

2.0 In preparation for the administration of the examinations and assessments, KNEC would wish to have the details of all the Centre Managers, Supervisors and Invigilators who will be engaged in the activity.

3.0 To this end you are required to identify, nominate and vet Centre Managers, Supervisors, and Invigilators who will be engaged in the exercise and thereafter deploy them into the CP2 system by 18th October 2022, through the following link/URL: https://cp2.knec.ac.ke

4.0 Ensure adherence to the following during nomination:

4.1 For every 200 candidates, deploy one supervisor; no supervisor should be deployed for hosted and KPSEA centres except for centres with KPSEA candidates only;

4.2 For every 20 candidates, deploy one invigilator. You are required to deploy invigilators to hosted and KPSEA centres based on the number of candidates in the examination centre;

4.3 Both hosted and hosting centres must have their own Centre managers. However, hosting Centre Manager will be expected to collect and return examination materials from the container.

5.0 Take note that the number of supervisors and invigilators should be adhered to especially during optional papers. The centre managers should ensure only the required number of supervisors and invigilators report each day of examinations and online attendance taken on daily basis. This will ensure teachers will not be idling in examination centres with no role to play.
