Teachers and civil servants will enjoy a salary increment of between 7% to 10% spread over to years (two phases) and backdated from 1st July 2023.
Yesterday the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) released additional information on the number of allowances to be affected by the salary increment plan.
SRC listed House, Commuter and allowances to be affetced by the new changes. In a table SRC also showed the new House and Commuter allowances to be paid.
Teachers and civil servants will get 5% payrise in first phase which starts 1st July 2023 to 30th June 2024 and 5% in second phase that runs from 1st July 2024 to 30th June 2025.
The payment which will be made in August salaries with July arrears was announced officially by Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) chairperson Lyn Mengich on Wednesday August 9, 2023.
Details show that the payrise has affected allowances paid to various government employees which include teachers, civil servants, county government employees and disciplined forces.
TSC is yet to release the new salary structure showing the new salary points for lowest to the highest paid teacher.

The Ministry of Public Service, gender and affirmative action has however released the remuneration and benefits for national government employees for the first phase.
Details show that the house allowance will change for a number of job groups including those in lower cadre.
“The new Basic Salaries and House Allowance will apply to Civil Servants in the National Government in CSG17 to CSG4, who will be in the Service on or after 1st July, 2023,” said Ministry in the document containing the changes.

All public officers will retain their current annual incremental dates. However, where the incremental date falls on 1st July, 2023, officers will be granted their annual increment on the existing salary scales before their salaries are converted to the new basic salary points with effect from the same date, i.e. 1st July, 2023.
