A ray of hope for BOM teachers and non-teaching staff as government assures them for support in mitigating the Covid-19 effects.

Zacky Kinuthia who is the education CAS made the statements that may see BOM teachers and Non-teaching school staff receiving a stipend to support them from the harsh effects of the novel coronavirus.

The teachers were rendered jobless after closure of schools whose reopening was pushed to January 2021.

“They have not been getting salaries for some couple of months now, they have been crying to us but I want to assure them that as government we have heard their cries and it is not like the government is insensitive. We’ve been listening to their cries we’ve been getting the appeals through letters phone calls through media engagements we’ve heard them cry” said the Education CAS Zacky Kinuthia.

The CAS also said the monies the Boards of Management will receive should be used to pay other non teaching staff like the cooks and watchmen who are also hit by this pandemic.

The CAS said the big announcement on BOM teachers payment will be made by the CS himself or the PS incharge of Early learning and Basic Education.

“Although this one will be an announcement by the Cabinet Secretary and the Principal secretary in charge of Early and Basic education I want to assure them that something will be done by their Board of Managements from the ministry which am not going to announce” he said.

He also reiterated TSC earlier stand that all TSC teachers will continue to enjoy their full salaries till when learning resumes in schools in January next year.
